Leah Williams is a composer, vocalist and sound artist whose work spans a variety of genres and focuses. From composing film scores to creating immersive soundscapes inspired by the natural world and the human’s place within it, Leah always approaches each piece with a fresh perspective on sound, an openness to where the music wants to journey, and a hope to take the listener with her beyond the boundaries of expectation.
Music has been part of Leah’s life since early childhood where she’d spend hours lying on the carpet of her family home’s living room, listening to the records her parents would play. From there, an exploration into instruments, music and sound began, learning flute, violin, cello, piano and vocals. More so than traditional training, Leah was inspired by exploring the possibilities of sound and its unending source of creativity, play and adventure. Writing music came as second nature, with early compositions inspired by films, books and the countryside she grew up in.
More recently, Leah has fallen in love with field recordings and the possibilities they bring to combine created sound with a moment in time, a memory, a place that resonates beyond its recorded confines.
